Depzman, a well-known Birmingham UK grime rapper on the cusp of stardom, was stabbed to death in 2013. The Joshua Ribera Foundation was founded to fight knife crime in his name. In 2022, using deepfake audio, Depzman released one final song that told the story of his life and his senseless death. On the anniversary of his funeral, the track and a music video launched on SBTV, the UK’s biggest urban music channel. The song reached 6 million people in two weeks on YouTube, TikTok and Spotify. The work became part of Depzman’s lasting legacy and encouraged young people to put down knives and avoid the tragic consequences of street violence.
