A beloved Japanese storytelling approach—classical anime—helped unearth the heart in the heritage of Komatsu while breaking through the typically austere category of heavy machinery advertising.

DESCRIPTION
To embody both Japanese heritage and the idea of gentle giants, we chose to break the norm of traditional heavy machinery advertising. We created a campaign in a classic anime style, blending strength and warmth. We decided to give new life to Komatsu’s real-world, high-risk task of clearing landmines in Cambodia by transforming it into a beautiful, imaginative anime film.
While showcasing the technical and heavy-duty nature of Komatsu’s work, this approach also conveyed the emotional depth and compassion that fuel these life-saving efforts. It allowed us to tell a more engaging and emotional story, blending technology and human empathy in a way that resonated on a deeper level. Using a visual language so closely tied to Japanese culture, we created a universal feeling that transcended the ordinary.
